  • Fran O'Brien, Cisco Systems (TIA), Steering Committee Chairman >


    Dr. O’Brien is a member of the Mobility CTO team at Cisco. He is active in a numerous standards fora including 3GPP, 4GAmercias, ATIS, ETSI, NGMN, oneM2M, and TIA. He is a regular participant in Global Standards Collaboration. Dr. O’Brien received the “CDG 2009 3G CDMA Industry Achievement Award for Industry Leadership”. He has recently been active in global 5G activities and is now the oneM2M Steering Committee Chair.

    Dr. O’Brien was the Senior Director of the Wireless Standards and Intellectual Property Department at Alcatel-Lucent. His Department was responsible for the development of global standards, industry relations, global spectrum policy, and wireless security

    Dr. O’Brien has served on the OMA Board of Directors, where he also the Finance Vice-Chair and was a member of the IEEE-SA Board of Governors.  He has also served on the IPSphere Board.

    Dr. O’Brien received his Ph.D. and M.A. from Boston University and his B.S. in from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

  • Rouzbeh Farhoumand, Huawei Technologies (ATIS), Steering Committee Vice-Chair >

    Mr. Rouzbeh Farhoumand has 22 plus years of telecommunications and R&D experience combined with an excellent track record of standardization work in various national and global standards and regulatory bodies. Since 1997, Rouzbeh has been active in numerous organizations to include ATIS, GSMA, GSM-NA, 3GPP (since its inception), 5G-Americas, WPS Forum, MSF, CableLabs, oneM2M, and managing high caliber teams with members active in many other key forums. Rouzbeh has held several leadership positions to include 3GPP CT Plenary Vice Chair for 4 years and in that capacity also attending 3GPP PCG/OP, served on the IMTC Board of Directors and as the IMTC VP of Industry Relations for 4 years, and currently also representing Huawei on the OSGi Alliance Board of Directors. Rouzbeh received his Master degree from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm in 1993.


  • Nick Yamasaki, KDDI Corporation (TTC), Steering Committee Vice-Chair >


    Nick Yamasaki is Senior Expert, Standards Strategy Section, Industry Standards Department, R&D Strategy Division, KDDI. In KDDI, he has been working for R&D for mobile communications for many years. In standardization area, he experienced ITU-R, WAP Forum and OMA standard activities. He joined 3GPP2 in 2000 and served for TSG-S Chair 2005-12. He joined ETSI TC M2M in 2011 and oneM2M in 2012.

    In oneM2M, he served for Vice Chair, Technical Plenary in oneM2M for two consecutive terms i.e. 2013-14 and 2015-16, and was appointed as Vice Chair, Steering Committee. He is also serving for Chair of 3GPP2 Technical Committee and oneM2M Technical Committee in TTC and Co-Chair of Joint TTC/ARIB Meeting for oneM2M Standardization.

  • Enrico Scarrone, Telecom Italia (ETSI), Steering Committee Vice Chair >

    Enrico Scarrone joined in CSELT (now Telecom Italia LAB), the R&D division of the Telecom Italia Group in 1992.

    He contributed to several main research projects during the 90's and subsequently to several standardization activities in ETSI, ITU-T, ATM Forum, 3GPP (SA, SA1, CT, RAN and RAN), 3G.IP, including chairmanships in 3GPP and ETSI) in the fields of ATM, signalling, mobile systems and their integration with IP.

    Participation and promotion of several early studies on integration of IP and mobile cellular networks has permitted to participate from the beginning to the work of 3G.IP, and indirectly to stimulate the work on release 2000 in 3GPP about the all-IP solution and the Multimedia Network principles. 
    At the same time he was involved in in several Telecom Italia projects in technology planning and selection, including network budget forecasts, RFI, RFQ and testing, mainly in the mobile and fixed mobile convergence fields. This has allowed him to keep a strong link between real networks and standardization/research.

    This includes roll out of GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, EV-DO, Fixed broadband, FMC, IMS and other technologies in Austria, Spain, Greece, Turkey, Brasil, Peru', Indonesia, and technical consulting in several other countries including Venezuela, Vietnam, The Netherlands, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. He is participating to 3GPP SA1, dealing with service and operational requirements in 3GPP mobile systems, where served as Chairman from 1996 to end 2011.

  • Dr. Omar Elloumi, Nokia (ATIS), Technical Plenary Chair >


    Dr. Omar Elloumi is a Head of M2M and Smart Grid standards within Nokia. He is the recently elected chair of oneM2M Technical Plenary after having led the oneM2M Architecture group delivering the first release of specifications.

    Omar joined Nokia in 1999 and held several positions including research, strategy and system architecture. He holds a Ph. D. degree in computer science and served on the ATM Forum and IPSphere Forum Board of Directors. Omar Elloumi is coeditor of books on M2M communications and Internet of Things published in 2012. He is also involved in program committees of several international conferences on M2M and IoT.

  • Josef Blanz, Qualcomm (TIA), Technical Plenary Vice Chair >

    As principal engineer with Qualcomm’s Standards and Industry Organizations Group, Dr. Blanz is responsible for M2M/IoT standards and fora, related design work and interfaces to business development, product management and engineering teams.

    From 1990 to 1993 Dr. Blanz worked on mobile radio physical layer implementations at the Centre for Microelectronics at the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany, where he joined the Research Group for RF Communications in 1993, focusing on research for multi-antenna receivers in 3rd Generation mobile radio. Dr. Blanz joined Qualcomm in 1998, working initially on smart antenna processing for base stations. From 1999 to 2009 he attended 3GPP as Qualcomm’s lead for radio and baseband performance. During that phase, he led internal R&D projects with focus on HSPA enhancements, such as MIMO. Since 2009 he coordinates Qualcomm's activities in M2M/IoT standards with technical focus on M2M service layers, was involved in the creation of oneM2M and serves as Qualcomm’s lead in oneM2M.

    Dr. Blanz looks back at more than 20 years of experience in communication systems design and more than 15 years of experience in standardization. He holds a Master's degree (Dipl-Ing.) and a Ph.D. degree (Dr-Ing.) in electrical engineering, both from Technical University of Kaiserslautern, Germany.

  • Roland Hechwartner, Deutsche Telekom AG / T-Mobile International Austria (ETSI), Technical Plenary Vice Chair >


    Roland Hechwartner, Deutsche Telekom, oneM2M Technical Plenary Vice Chairman

    Roland Hechwartner works at Deutsche Telekom Group technology, in the Standardization and IPR Management department where he is responsible for standardization activities in the service domain.

    Roland joined the department of systems engineering of max.mobil. (later T-Mobile Austria) in 1999 as project manager for mobile data solutions. Since 2005 he has been working in several standardization groups and served as member of the board of directors of OMA.  

  • Ki Young Kim, LG Electronics (TTA), Technical Plenary Vice Chair >

    Mr. Ki Young Kim has been actively involving in service/application and cellular technology standards since March 2000, and currently, he is a lead person in LG Electronics for oneM2M and 3GPP standardization activities. He has been served as a leadership member of 3GPP, 3GPP2 and OMA and now is serving TTA oneM2M Project Group as a Chairman

    He has experienced 25+ years of cellular standards, engineering, development, and project management of wireless/wireline technologies for communication systems.

  • Shelby Kiewel, iconectiv, REQ Working Group Chair >


    Shelby Kiewel has vast experience in the communications industry, with heavy emphasis in management, chairing and representation as part of several standards bodies. 

    Shelby’s experience in the communications industry includes, but is not limited to : Industry standard representation within oneM2M- iconectiv lead, ATIS- holding chair and vice-chair positions, TMForum, MEF, ITU-T, Common Language Industry Forum leadership, and more.

    Additionally, his real-world experience of putting standards into practice includes product development, SLA negotiation, overall Network Services Subject Matter Expertise, Subject Matter Expertise for information services and data modeling, systems integration, business process development manager, equipment installation, switch engineering, transmission engineering, field/remote engineering, special service circuitry engineering, project management, and more.

  • Nicolas Damour, Sierra Wireless, ARC Working Group Chair >


    Nicolas Damour is Senior Manager for Business and Innovation Development at Sierra Wireless, Inc. where he has been working for the last five years. He holds a telecommunications engineering degree and a master degree in innovation management. Before Sierra Wireless, he has worked in the IT and telecommunications industry in North America and in Europe, notably for Nortel Networks in Germany and for the Kapsch group in Austria.

    At Sierra Wireless, he is responsible for M2M standardization activities and for advanced projects with partners and prospective customers to keep exploring new ideas and solutions in the M2M industry. He is also very active in the oneM2M partnership project, where he is vice-chairman of the architecture working group, and attends other standardization for a such as the 3GPP, the GSM Association or the European Smart Metering Industry Group. He is currently based in Toulouse, France.

  • Peter Niblett, IBM, PRO Working Group Chair >


    Peter Niblett is the IBM Senior Technical Staff Member, responsible for the architecture and design of IBM Internet of Things and Mobile Messaging offerings, and is a member of several organizations that are developing standards for the Internet of Things.

    Peter’s special areas of interest are the use of Messaging and Event Processing technologies in Mobile and Machine-to-Machine applications, and the combination of these technologies with Analytics that underpins the Internet of Things. He has worked on the development of IBM's messaging and integration products for around 20 years.

    Peter is a member of the OASIS Technical Committee that has standardised the MQTT protocol and in the past led IBM's participation in the definition of the Java Message Service (JMS) programming interface, as well chairing or participating in the development of a number of Web Services standards. He is also active in the oneM2M Partnership and Continua Healthcare Alliance.

    Together with Dr Opher Etzion, Peter co-authored the book Event Processing in Action (Manning Publications). Published in 2010, this book introduced the major concepts of event-driven architectures and shows how to use, design, and build event processing systems and applications.

    Peter is a Fellow of the British Computer Society and in 2004 he was one of five IBM leaders recognised by the Royal Academy of Engineering with the MacRobert Award for the WebSphere MQ family, the first time the most prestigious engineering award in the United Kingdom was presented for a purely software engineering achievement.

  • Francois Ennesser, Gemalto, SEC Working Group Chair >


    François Ennesser has been involved in security standardization activities since 1999, starting with contributions to the definition of the multi-purpose "UICC" smartcard platform in ETSI TC SCP. He participated to the definition of secure over-the-air protocols for remote management in ETSI and TIA and was a leading contributor in the definition of an enhanced communication interface for the UICC.

    He initiated and chaired the initial Inter-Chip USB Working Group, which defined a low power embedded adaptation of the USB interface within the USB Implementers Forum. He has been focusing on Machine to Machine standardization since 2008 and is currently chairing the Security Working Group of the oneM2M partnership Project.

    He contributes to EU level initiatives on Smart Grids with a focus on critical infrastructure protection and privacy preservation. He holds a french Engineer's degree from ESIEE and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California.

  • Yongjing Zhang, Huawei, MAS Working Group Chair >


    Dr. Yongjing Zhang has been working for Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. over 7 years since his Ph.D. graduation from Beijing University of Posts & Telecommunications (BUPT). Currently he is the Standard Research Project Lead of Carrier Software Business Unit at Huawei, responsible for telco service related standard activities, innovation research, architecture design as well as product planning and prototyping.  His professional areas include SIP/IMS, Messaging, Personal Network, Device Management, and most recently NFV and M2M/ Internet of Things. 

    He's is well experienced and active in the standardization work regarding the relevant areas for many years, including OMA, ETSI M2M, CCSA TC10, oneM2M, etc. Among that, he was the chairman of ETSI M2M WG5 (Management), and now he is serving as the chairman of oneM2M MAS (Management, Abstraction & Semantics) Working Group. 

  • JaeSeung Song, KETI, TST Working Group Chair >


    JaeSeung Song is an assistant professor in the Computer and Information Security Department at Sejong University and a delegation of Korea Electronics Technology Institute. He holds the position of oneM2M Test WG Convenor and TTA IoT/M2M Convergence Special Project Group Vice chair. Prior to his current position, he worked for NEC Europe Ltd. between 2012 and 2013 as a leading standard senior researcher. At that time, he actively participated in IoT related R&D projects and IoT/M2M standardizations (i.e., ETSI TC M2M and oneM2M).

    From 2002 to 2008, he worked for LG Electronics as a senior researcher leading a 3GPP SA standard team. He occupied leadership positions in 3GPP and oneM2M standard groups as a rapporteur and active contributor. He received a PhD at Imperial College London in the Department of Computing, United Kingdom. He holds BS and MS in Computer Science from Sogang University.
