The Telecommunications Standards Development Society, India (TSDSI) has published a Technical Report on an AI-driven massive digital-twinning framework for communications networks. An important foundation is the definition of common data and model formats for network digital twins that operate in conjunction with open APIs. TSDSI notes that models capturing network state, topology, and performance data can be combined with northbound/southbound APIs that are analogous to NFV and MEC service interfaces. This approach can enable multi-vendor interoperability. It will benefit from collaborative efforts involving industry consortia and standards bodies. Notably, there are lessons to draw from oneM2M's initiatives on generic digital twin ontologies.
