The Conference and accompanying Exhibition and Symposium were organized by the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) of Korea, Korea Communications Agency (KCA), and the Korea Wireless Internet Solution Association (KWISA), and sponsored by leaders in the IT and M2M market, including: SK Telecom, LG Uplus, Samsung, LG Electronics, Samsung SDS, ETRI, KETI, Modacom, and Oracle, along with participants InterDigital, NEC, and Sierra Wireless.
"Today's oneM2M 2013 Seoul International Conference will focus on the prospects of the M2M (Internet of Things), from the perspectives of world leaders, and aims to draw interest from related industrial sectors and promote development of technological standardization," said Director General Park Jae Moon, "It is my sincere expectation that today's Conference will serve as an opportunity to look at various cases of key M2M services, such as U-health care, smart home, and smart cars and to review on the application cases, demands, and key issues of the oneM2M."
The Seoul International Conference and Symposium capped a week long meeting of the oneM2M Technical Plenary, where member delegates of the oneM2M Partner organizations advanced their ongoing work on M2M Requirements and Architecture, M2M Security topics, and M2M Management, Abstraction, and Semantics. Notable at this week's Seoul meeting was the start of new work in the Protocols working group for the oneM2M Service Layer.
Acknowledging the significance of oneM2M activities, TTA's President, Lee Keun Hyeob, added that "The specifications in development by oneM2M will become the milestone for global M2M standards."
oneM2M 2013 Seoul International Conference attendees heard a number of insightful perspectives on M2M from both Korean and Global company representatives, including market trends in u-healthcare services, M2M business security, as well as details on the open M2M platform, and were able to participate in an interactive symposium on M2M business solutions. An overview of oneM2M goals, organization, and work was provided by Peter Nurse (Qualcomm), oneM2M Technical Plenary Chair;Laurent Laporte (Sprint-Nextel), WG1- Requirements Chair; and Omar Elloumi (Alcatel-Lucent), WG2 - Architecture Chair.
