oneM2M to Host Second Interoperability Event

Co-organized by oneM2M’s founding partners TTA (Telecommunications Technology Association of Korea) and ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute), oneM2M Interop 2 will give organizations implementing oneM2M standards the opportunity to validate interoperability and check end-to-end functionality via oneM2M interfaces. It is also expected to include a Conformance Testing Tool Demo in order to help companies understand oneM2M conformance testing, which aims to determine to what extent a single implementation of a particular standard conforms to the individual requirements of that standard.

The European Commission and the Korean Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning are supporting the free event – which will take place in Seongnam, South Korea, from Tuesday, May 10 to Friday, May 13 2016.

“As IoT continues to gain momentum, it is becoming all the more important to ensure interoperability across multiple industries to ensure ease-of-use and widespread adoption,” said Prof. JaeSeung Song of Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI), chairman of oneM2M’s Test Working Group. “Our first interop event was a great success which we hope to build on further and we would encourage all industry players to attend and test their implementations of oneM2M standards.”

oneM2M specifications which will be tested include oneM2M Release 1 standards TS-0001 (Functional Architecture), TS-0004 (Service Layer Core Protocol), TS-0008 (CoAP Protocol Binding), TS-0009 (HTTP Protocol Binding) and TS-0010 (MQTT Protocol Binding).

About oneM2M

oneM2M is the global standards initiative that covers requirements, architecture, API specifications, security solutions and interoperability for Machine-to-Machine and IoT technologies. oneM2M was formed in 2012 and consists of eight of the world's preeminent standards development organizations: ARIB (Japan), ATIS (North America), CCSA (China), ETSI (Europe), TIA (North America), TSDSI (India), TTA (Korea), and TTC (Japan), together with six industry fora or consortia (Broadband Forum, Continua Alliance, GlobalPlatform, HGI, Next Generation M2M Consortium, OMA) and over 200 member organizations. oneM2M specifications provide a framework to support applications and services such as the smart grid, connected car, home automation, public safety, and health. oneM2M actively encourages industry associations and forums with specific application requirements to participate in oneM2M, in order to ensure that the solutions developed support their specific needs.
