The EU Data Act: Regulation of data access and interoperability

When a factory machine breaks down, in many cases only its manufacturer can access the data for repair purposes. Under the EU Data Act, this situation will change so that the machine's user can access data collected by the machine. Now, there is an option to seek alternative repair providers. The EU Data Act makes this possible via regulations to enable data interoperability. Implementation will depend on IoT, device, and ontology standards such as oneM2M and SAREF. Joachim Koss describes the situation and standardization opportunity in this presentation from oneM2M's 67th Technical Plenary.
