The event is being held as the Asian Silicon Valley Development Agency (ASVDA) aims to have a five percent stake in the global IoT market by 2025. The ASVDA is working to create an Asian Silicon Valley in Taiwan by transforming and upgrading the country’s industrial infrastructure with IoT technology.
Hosted by two of oneM2M’s founding partners TTA and ETSI, along with the Taiwan-based Institute for Information Industry (III), Interop 4 will give organisations implementing oneM2M standards the opportunity to validate interoperability and check end-to-end functionality via oneM2M interfaces. In addition, an international conference hosted by III will be held, featuring presentations from leading companies and oneM2M’s leadership team to promote oneM2M to Taiwanese businesses in the IoT sector.
“Taiwan is striving to become a major IoT player and Interop 4 will enhance its progression towards this, significantly benefiting vendors in the country,” said Steven Liu from III “By bringing this event to Taiwan, local companies are able to participate as well as have the chance to listen to insights from some of oneM2M’s members to hear how oneM2M standards can boost IoT deployments.”
During Interop 4, participants will be able to take part in interoperability scenarios from TS-0013 – oneM2M’s Interoperability Testing Technical Specification. The testing will be based on oneM2M’s updated Release 1 and Release 2 standards, covering functional architecture, service layer core protocol and CoAP, HTTP, MQTT and WebSocket protocol binding.
The event will offer test sessions where companies can check the interoperability levels of their implementations and verify the correct interpretation of the oneM2M standards. It will also invite participants to run Conformance Testing to help them debug their products, as specified in oneM2M TS-0018, TS-0019, TS-0028 and TS-0029.
Interop 4 will take place at the Bellezza hotel, in Taipei City, from Tuesday, May 16 to Friday, May 19 and is supported by the European Commission, ETSI, TTA and III. The event is open to both members and non-members of oneM2M and is free of charge.
The international conference featuring oneM2M technologies will take place at the same place (the Bellezza hotel) one day before Interop 4 on Monday, May 15 and is supported by III.

About oneM2M
oneM2M is the global standards initiative that covers requirements, architecture, API specifications, security solutions and interoperability for Machine-to-Machine and IoT technologies. oneM2M was formed in 2012 and consists of eight of the world's preeminent standards development organizations: ARIB (Japan), ATIS (U.S.), CCSA (China), ETSI (Europe), TIA (U.S.), TSDSI (India), TTA (Korea), and TTC (Japan), together with six industry fora or consortia (Broadband Forum, CEN, CENELEC, GlobalPlatform, Next Generation M2M Consortium, OMA) and over 200 member organizations. oneM2M specifications provide a framework to support applications and services such as the smart grid, connected car, home automation, public safety, and health. oneM2M actively encourages industry associations and forums with specific application requirements to participate in oneM2M, in order to ensure that the solutions developed support their specific needs. For more information, including how to join and participate in oneM2M, see: www.onem2m.org.
